About Daniel Phillips
Utrinque Paratus – “Ready for Anything”
It all started around the age of 12 when I began helping my father with his property lettings company. I would work evenings and weekends, primarily on student accommodation properties in Sheffield which he owned. In addition to this my father also ran a construction and architect design company, and was also the principal building inspector throughout Sheffield.
I suppose you could say that growing up around this environment I was destined to work within the construction industry. It allowed me to start learning from such an early age, and I am very fortunate to have such a great professional role model.
At the age of 15 I was able to secure work experience at the Town Hall in Chesterfield. Working within the Building Inspectors Department this enabled me to grow my knowledge and passion for the industry further.
Upon leaving school I completed a YTS Course (Youth Training Scheme – Apprenticeship) in Brick Laying. While doing the course I also attended night school studying Foundation Building and Surveying. Once I had completed the courses I immediately started working for my father’s construction company during the week and completing my own jobs at the weekend.
After doing this for a few years and being around the industry since an early age, like any other young adult I wanted to explore the world. This saw in joining the 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment. I had the absolute pleasure of serving our country for 5 years as a ‘Para Trooper’. The airborne infantry taught me many skills and disciplines which remain close to me forever. However, throughout my serving time I would continue with construction whenever I was on leave.
I decided to leave the Parachute Regiment when we were expecting our first child. Being away from home for long periods of time wasn’t what I wanted and made the decision to return to my family. Following my departure from the Armed Forces we moved to Spain where my family had now moved to. Working alongside my father’s construction company and estate agency.
After a while it was time to return to the sunny United Kingdom and saw me joining the Derbyshire Constabulary. I served as a Police Officer for 10 years, covering many units throughout my time. Similar to my time in the Armed Forces, during any time off I would be involved in many construction jobs.
It became clear that due to the amount of building work I was getting it would finally be the right time to return back, and I started my own construction company. I am now able to put all the years of experience into use each day working on a range of fantastic jobs.
In order to develop my knowledge and skills further I qualified as a HETAS Engineer. This enables me to install and service Multi fuel appliances. I have also gained my Chimney Surveying and Sweeping accreditation with Rodtech Uk Ltd.
We operate a family business with myself working out on site each day alongside our small team of tradesmen, by doing this I can ensure that all work is carried out to a high standard and that any questions or concerns a client may have are answered and resolved before becoming an issue.
My brother, Ryan has also been involved in the construction industry from an early age both here in the UK and overseas in Spain. Ryan runs the day to day site work and organisation and is a vital member of the team.
My son Leon is 2 years in to completing a 4-year course in Joinery and Carpentry at Chesterfield College. He too works with us between his studying and is looking forward to joining the team full time. A close family friend, Dale, is the main general labourer and is an integral part of the team.
My sister Victoria has previous work experience in accounting and sectorial work in a law department and is now qualified as a junior accountant. Victoria oversees the administration of the business and is a valued member of the team. Ensuring the clerical side of the business runs smoothly.
We work closely with the same team of quality tradesman, specialising in their own individual trades, this enables us to offer a range of trusted quality services.
Our aim is simple, to deliver an outstanding level of service from start to finish in every aspect of the job.
Repairing the past and building the future.
